Hyderabad Weekend Getaway : Bidar

Bidar is about 110 KM away from Hyderabad. We started at around 9 AM in the morning from Hyderabad. Had breakfast at Pathancheru. We reached Bidar at 11 AM in the afternoon. Places of Interest at Bidar inlcude Mahmud Gawan Arabic University, Bidar Fort and Palace, Museum, etc. We were able to cover all the places of interest by 5 PM. There are several good veg and non-veg restaurants at Bidar. So, as such you need not worry about finding food.
Ruins of Mahmud Gawan Arabic University: According to the locals, this enormous structure was built in 14th Century. Now, what is left is ruins of the structure and a small mosque. The ruined structure itself is so huge and wonderful, one wonder how amazing this University appeared during its glory days.

Bidar Fort: The song ‘Ishq Sufiyana’ from Dirty Picture was shot at the various parts of Bidar Fort. The best part about this fort is that, you can take your car inside and roam around.

At around 5:30 PM, we started our return journey to Hyderabad. On the way, we found several sugar cane fields. Spoke with several farmers about whether there has been any decrease in Sugar Cane production as the prices of Sugar have really gone up in last three years. The farmers were quick to respond that, there was no decrease in Sugar Cane production.. it’s just politics.
